Lesson notes for parents
After each lesson, mark how far along each piece is and set the week's practice. The parent's message writes itself, and a practice sheet prints for the fridge.

How it works
- 1 Pick the student. Add each one once, with a parent's name for the greeting.
- 2 Say how last week's practice went, then note what you worked on and how far along each piece is.
- 3 Set this week's practice. It spreads itself over the seven days so no day runs long.
- 4 Copy the message into your own text or email, and print the practice sheet to take home.
Free, with no account. Students, parents and notes never leave your browser: nothing is sent to us, and they're kept on this device only if you tick Remember.
Good to know
- How is the practice spread over the week?
- The week starts the day after the lesson. Every-day tasks go on all seven days. The rest, like three days a week, are fitted where they add least to the fullest day, so a student isn't asked for 40 minutes on Monday and 5 on Tuesday. If a day still runs past the aim you set, it tells you.
- What are the stages?
- New, learning, nearly there and polished. Mark each piece or topic every lesson, and the student's story shows its journey lesson by lesson. When a piece moves up, the message says so, which parents love to hear.
- What about my own notes?
- "Just for you" is for what to try next time. It never goes in the message or on the practice sheet. It shows in the term notes you copy for yourself when you write a report.
- Why does it count texts?
- A text holds 160 plain characters, or 70 once it has an emoji or a curly quote, and a longer message is sent in parts. The text version keeps to plain characters so it fits in as few as it can.
- What if my browser clears its data?
- Save a backup file now and then from the student's story, and open it again here. It holds names and notes, so keep it somewhere private.
