Loyalty card cost
“Buy 9, get one free” is rarely 10% off. See what each reward really costs, and how many more visits the card has to bring to pay for itself.

How it works
- 1 Put in what a regular spends on a visit, and what the goods in it cost you as a share of the price.
- 2 Describe the card: stamps and a free item, money off once they've spent so much, or a per cent back as credit. It shows the real discount, what each visit costs you and how many more visits pay for it.
- 3 Compare longer cards or smaller rewards, see what a month costs with your own regulars, then print a one-page worksheet and copy the small print for the back of the card.
Free, with no account. The sums are done in your browser: your figures stay on this device and are never sent to us, and there's nowhere to type in a customer. Remember is off unless you turn it on.
Good to know
- Why isn't “buy nine, get one free” 10% off?
- It is only when the free item costs what a whole visit does. A regular who spends $7.50 a visit and gets a $4.75 coffee after nine visits has had $4.75 off $67.50, which is about 7%. A big reward on small visits works the other way. The tool works it out from your own prices.
- Full price, or what it costs me?
- If the free coffee takes the place of one they'd have paid for, you've given up its price. If it's something extra they wouldn't have bought, you've only given up what goes into it. Most regulars would have bought something anyway, so full price is the safer sum. The tool shows both.
- What does “more visits to pay for it” mean?
- Each extra visit leaves you what's left after the goods. The reward is paid for once the card brings enough extra visits to cover it. Up to 10% more is a light card, up to 25% fair. Those are rules of thumb, not research: count how often your regulars come before and after, and trust that instead.
- Can points or stamps run out?
- Some provinces have rules on rewards running out, and some have changed them over the years. Check the rules where you are before you print an end date (verify). If in doubt, “never” is the simplest card to explain. When you're ready to print, the punch card maker makes the cards.
