Line recipe cards

Every dish the line makes on one card: the photo, the components, the steps with their timers and temperatures, the plating and the allergens. Cooks swipe through their station on a tablet, in English or their own language, and the cards print with what changed since the last ones on the wall.

How it works

  1. 1 Make a card for each dish the line makes: its station, the components with their amounts, the steps in order, the plating, a note for the cook, and a photo of how the plate goes out.
  2. 2 Give a step a timer or a temperature, and mark the ones that mustn't be got wrong as critical; they print in a different colour, so they stand out at a glance.
  3. 3 Tap each allergen in, can be left off, or may contain. As you type, the card checks its own words: a component that names butter, Dijon or flour with the allergen left unmarked is flagged.
  4. 4 Add up to three staff languages. Type the words yourself, or, signed in, ask the AI for a first draft, with a read-back in English under each line so you can check what it says.
  5. 5 Print the cards, two 6 × 4 cards to a Letter page or one a page, or open line mode on a tablet: the station's cards full screen, at any batch size, with timers to tap.

Free. Signed out, the cards work on the page, and stay on this device only if you turn on Remember. With a free account they're kept in your account, photos and all, so every tablet on the line sees the same cards; a kitchen's recipes never go in a link or our logs.

Good to know

How far can I trust a translation?
A translation is a draft until someone who reads the language goes through it and puts their initials to it. The page checks every line for you: a number in the English that the translation doesn't have, an allergen the read-back doesn't name, and a line written before the English changed. Only the words are translated; amounts, timers and temperatures stay as they are, and the English card is the one to go by.
What goes to the AI?
Only the words of the card you ask about: its name, components, steps, plating and note, sent to our AI provider for the draft. Not the photo, not your prices, and nothing is kept: the words and the draft aren't stored or logged by us. Signed-in accounts get a few drafts a day, free.
How does it know what changed?
When you print, mark the cards printed. From then on, anything that changes on a card, an amount, a step, an allergen, is marked on the page and in line mode until it's printed again, so you know which cards on the wall to swap. Allergens changed since the last print are called out at the top of the card.
Is the allergen check enough?
No. It's a guide that reads the words on the card; it can't see what's in a sauce or a bought-in item. The labels and your supplier's specs are what to go by. To go through the whole menu with the team, use the staff allergen briefing; a card can take its allergens from there.
Can I start from dishes I've already costed?
Yes. Signed in, a dish in your margin alert book can start a card with its components filled in. Download everything from your account and the cards come with it; removing a card removes it, and its photo, for good.

Menu engineering grid

Paste a few weeks of sales with each dish's price and plate cost, and every dish lands on the grid against the others in its section: stars to keep, plowhorses to earn more from, puzzles to get noticed and dogs to rework or retire. Each one gets next steps from its own numbers, the biggest wins are ranked in dollars, and new prices can be tried before they go on the menu.

Nutrition facts estimator

Put in a recipe as you make it, in cups, spoons or grams, and the batch's weight once it's baked. See the Nutrition Facts table for a serving, rounded the way the rules round it, in English and French, which ingredient carries the salt or the sugar, and what changes if you cut it. The AI can draft what's in each ingredient, flagged until you've checked it.
